Muse Code Explained: Meta's Coding Agent and the Only Way to Get Wonder Full

Developer working with Meta Muse Code AI coding agent on a laptop

Meta's Muse started life as a personal AI agent that books travel, fills in forms and runs everyday errands inside a secure virtual computer. Now it has a coding sibling — Muse Code — and with it comes something developers have been asking about since October: the only way to use Meta's most powerful model, Muse Wonder Full.

This guide explains what Muse Code actually is, how its two plans work, why Wonder Full is locked to those plans, and how it differs from the consumer Muse app — and from Muse Spark Open, a different model that is easy to confuse with it. Anything Meta has not published is labelled as reported.

Quick answer: Muse Code is Meta's AI coding agent, and it is the only way to use Muse Wonder Full. Wonder Full is not sold through the API and has not reached the consumer Muse app yet — the only access is a Muse Code subscription, reported at $50 a month for Power Usage or $200 a month for Maximum Usage. If you only want the consumer assistant, you do not need Muse Code at all.

Dimension Muse Code Consumer Muse app Muse Spark Open
Maker Meta Meta Meta
Price Subscription only, reported $50 or $200/month Free tier; paid plans $20 or $100/month Open-weight model to download and run yourself
Model Muse Wonder Full as the default engine Muse Spark; Wonder later for paying subscribers Spark Open: 816B parameters total, 42B active
Core difference Agentic coding: long-running tasks, multi-file edits, debugging Everyday errands: booking, shopping, forms A downloadable model, not a finished product
Best for Developers who want an agent in their codebase Anyone who wants an AI agent for daily life Developers and researchers who want to run a model themselves

What Muse Code actually is

Muse Code is Meta's AI coding agent — a subscription product built for developers, not a chatbot with a code mode bolted on. It is designed for agentic work: long-running coding tasks, edits across many files, and debugging jobs that keep going while you do something else. Wonder Full runs as its default engine: the model and the agent are sold together.

Both Wonder models launched on October 12, 2026, from Meta Superintelligence Labs. They share a 1-million-token context window and accept text, image, video and audio input. That long context is what lets an agent hold a whole codebase in mind instead of forgetting the file it read five minutes ago — the difference between answering a question about code and actually working inside it.

On independent testing, Wonder Full scored 56 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, tied with Claude Sonnet 5.5 and behind Claude Opus 5.5 at 58; the smaller Wonder scored 52. Those are independent numbers, worth comparing across vendors. Meta has published its own benchmark results too, including Terminal-Bench — but that is Meta testing its own model, useful as a signal, not a neutral comparison.

How Wonder Full access works

There is exactly one door to Wonder Full, and it is a subscription. Wonder Full is available only inside Muse Code subscriptions. There is no per-token API price for Wonder Full and no way to buy it on its own — if you want the model, you buy the coding product that runs it.

  • Power Usage — reported $50 a month. The entry tier for developers who code with an agent regularly.
  • Maximum Usage — reported $200 a month. The heavier tier for daily, intensive use.

Those prices are reported figures: Meta has no public pricing page for Muse Code, so treat them as the best available numbers and check Meta's official pages before you pay. The distinction matters for budgeting. The smaller Wonder, by contrast, is sold through the Meta Model API at $4 per million input tokens ($0.20 cached) and $20 per million output tokens. Wonder Full has no meter: you pay the subscription and use the agent.

If you do not have a Muse account yet, Muse registration assistance helps you create your own account for personal use, per Meta's platform terms, so you can get started with the Muse family of products.

Muse Code vs the consumer Muse app

The consumer Muse app and Muse Code share a name and a maker, and that is most of what they share. The consumer app is a personal AI agent for everyday errands — booking travel, shopping online, filling in forms — and it still runs on Muse Spark today. Wonder will roll out to the consumer app later, first to paying subscribers on the $20 and $100 plans, but Meta has announced no date.

Muse Spark Open is a third thing entirely, and the naming does not help. Announced October 15, 2026, it is an open-weight model — 816 billion parameters in total, 42 billion active — that developers can download and run themselves. It is not the engine inside Muse Code, and it is not the consumer app. If a download page offers you model weights, that is Spark Open; if a subscription page offers you an agent that writes code, that is Muse Code.

Who Muse Code is for — and who should skip it

Muse Code makes sense if you write code for a living and want an agent that can hold a long task, work across files and keep context over a 1-million-token window. The reported $50 Power plan is the entry point for regular use; the $200 Maximum plan is for heavy daily use where the agent is effectively a second pair of hands.

Skip it if you only want an AI assistant for everyday life. The consumer Muse app, with its free tier and $20 or $100 plans, is the right product for errands, and it is available in the US, Canada and Japan on iOS, Android, Mac, the web and WhatsApp. You need to be 18 or over and have a Meta account — a Facebook account is not required. Check Meta's official pages before you sign up.

The decision is about the job, not the brand. If your job is code, Muse Code is the only route to Wonder Full. If your job is everything else, the consumer app already does it — and getting your own Muse account set up takes minutes, with our registration assistance keeping it simple and for personal use, per Meta's platform terms.

Frequently asked questions

What is Muse Code?
Muse Code is Meta's AI coding agent and coding subscription product. It is built for agentic software work such as long-running coding tasks and multi-file edits, and its default engine is Muse Wonder Full, Meta's most powerful model.

How much does Muse Code cost?
Muse Code is sold as a subscription, reported at $50 a month for Power Usage and $200 a month for Maximum Usage. Meta has no public pricing page, so these are reported figures — check Meta's official pages for the current price before you subscribe.

Can I use Muse Wonder Full through the API?
No. Wonder Full is available only inside Muse Code subscriptions, with no per-token API price. The smaller Muse Wonder is available through the Meta Model API at $4 per million input tokens ($0.20 cached) and $20 per million output tokens.

Is Muse Code the same as the Muse app or Muse Spark Open?
No. The consumer Muse app is a personal AI agent for everyday errands and still runs on Muse Spark. Muse Spark Open, announced October 15, 2026, is a separate open-weight model. Muse Code is the coding subscription whose default engine is Wonder Full.
